Board of Directors

As outlined in the RHA by-laws, the Board of Directors of the Churchill RHA may have up to nine Directors appointed for terms as specified by the Minister of Health. Up to four Directors may be appointed from the list of nominations received from within the Health Region; up to three Directors may be appointed from the Kivalliq Region of Nunavut; the Board may recommend one individual; and the Minister of Finance may appoint one additional Director.

Ms. Verna Flett - Board Chair, Verna was born and raised in Churchill, Manitoba.  With the exception of the years that she attended Brandon University, Ms. Flett has lived in Churchill her entire life. Verna has been employed at the Duke of Marlborough School in Churchill since 1991.  She has held numerous positions there and has been the School Counsellor for the last 3 years.  Ms. Flett has been an active member and leader of Teens Against Drunk Driving and the Executive Council for the York Factory First Nations.  She co-chairs the local Healthy Child Manitoba Committee and has served as a member of Council for the Town of Churchill since being elected in November of 2000.


Mr. David Daley - Mr. Daley was born and raised in Churchill, MB. He and his wife Valerie have raised 4 children and they have 3 grandchildren. David and his wife own and operate Wapusk General Store and Wapusk Adventures in Churchill. He is a past president of the Churchill Chamber of Commerce and currently works for Calm Air as an Aircraft Mechanic. David organizes and races in the Hudson Bay Quest dog sled race.


Mr Sean Kernaghan - Mr. Kernaghan was born and raised in Churchill, MB and continues to reside here. Sean is an Industrial Electrician by trade, which he acquired through the Port of Churchill where he worked for 10 years. Sean currently owns the local gas and service station in Churchill. Sean has served as a Councillor for the Town of Churchill from 1998 - 2002 and is currently an active member of the local Curling Club Executive. Sean helps out with the local Senior Men's Hockey League.


Ms. Bernadette Tattuinee - Ms. Tattuinee was born in Churchill, MB but was raised in Arviat all her life. She has enjoyed working with the public as a Calm Air agent. She spent a couple of gratifying terms as an adult educator for the Northwest Territories Government (GNWT). In the late 80's she was an Assistant Manager at the Senior Elders home before becoming the Manager for almost 3 years, all the elders enjoyed her presence as she is a down to earth person. For the past 7 years she has been the Constituency Assistant to the Member of Parliament for Nunavut.


Ms. Doreen Macri - was born and raised in Brandon, Manitoba. She received a Diploma in Dental Hygiene in 1972 and a Bachelor of Science in 1975. She worked in public health units in Alberta prior to moving to Churchill in 1977 to work as a dental hygienist. Here she met her husband Mike, married and raised their daughter Angela. Together they own and operate a summer boat tour business. Doreen is currently the Telehealth Coordinator at the Churchill RHA. She finds Churchill and the surrounding sub arctic to be a very diverse and interesting place to work and live.


 

 

 

 

Ms. Catherine deMeulles - Katie was born and raised in Churchill, Manitoba.  Ms. deMeulles has owned two Hotels over the years:  The Arctic Inn & The Northern Night.  She raised her only son and has worked for many companies over the years:  Churchill RHA, Calm Air, Seaport, and presently at Stittco Energy. She has been a member and volunteer at the Manitoba Metis local and an active member of Churchill Ladies Curling Club.


 

Senior Management

The Senior Management consists of Derry Martens CEO; Bobbi Sigurdson Chief Financial Officer; Patti MacEwan Director of Clinical Services; Michel Petit, Director of Community Services & Planning; Ron Sweeney, Director of Human Resources; and Annie Deschenes, Executive Assistant.
